Download and use alternative, free versions of popular software, including business tools, email, and other stuff you don't need to pay anyone for.
Who this is for & what you'll need
Guided coding
You'll run commands and edit files. No prior experience needed.
A few installs
You'll install a couple of tools, we'll help you in class.
Where This Class Leads
What you leave able to do
- locate an open source replacement for software you pay for
- migrate your work off a subscription without losing it
- produce an account of what you depend on and who can revoke it
- produce an inventory of what you pay for and what it holds
- characterise what a tool costs you beyond its price
- integrate a change into a project you do not control
How you show it. A merged change in a repository you do not own, with the review thread that got it there.
