What happens when the swarm goes wrong

Why Swarms Go Wrong

Prompt Engineering moved from swarm architectures into AI alignment, and Liz announced a one-time Intro to Python course.

This issue is dressed as Avant Apocalypse

Liz settled into San Francisco and announced an Intro to Python course, saying it was the only one she would run all year.

Prompt Engineering implemented Actor-Critic, Planner-Actor-Critic and agent hierarchy architectures, then turned to alignment: how an Autogen swarm can fail, and why autonomous agents acting on your behalf are a risk. CyberSecurity tried to put a benchmark harness around a new model, and Project Mob Programming replaced the usual standup sessions.

The video list led with the OpenAI superalignment team news.

5/19/24 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter

Hey Multiverse Crew,

Well, I'm in San Francisco. My kid got married this week, without inviting me, and I'm pretty heartbroken about it. It's fine, kids usually need space in their early 20s and I knew we'd have some rough years due to being a kid when I had them myself. They seem to want the space and I'm not going to push it, just be sad about it instead. I didn't invite my own mom to my wedding, because I told myself it was just "the legal one" and then I never had another one so karma comes for us all.

If you're in the bay, let me know! Families in Gaza need our help. I'm doing an Intro to Python course. __It's the only one I'll do all year___. By the way the next cohort for Prompt Engineering begins June 17 It's Monday and Wednesday at 2pm Pacific, 5pm Eastern.

If you're taking any two classes, this is a reminder that you should probably just do the all-you-can-attend membership.

The reading for this month is Complex Adaptive Systems - Part 3: Computational Modeling Chapter 5: Computation as Theory

We will record this week! Unless everyone is unable to get to their readings. Please let me know if we don't have sufficient participation.

Prompt Engineering @ 5pm with Liz - AI Alignment

We'll dive back into Alignment, by talking about what ways an Autogen swarm can go wrong, and why all your dreams of autonomous agents that act on your behalf are actually terrifying nightmares. We have a much more in-depth evolving wiki on this, and a full course later in the year. [[1 - Start Here with AI Alignment]]. This is currently an unsolved extinction risk technology, using the very materials we've learned in class! You should probably not miss this session.

Upcoming Tracks · Intro to Python Begins May 27th

Next Prompt Engineering Cohort Begins June 17

If you missed some classes or wanted to start, the next sequence is going to be Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm Pacific, 5pm Eastern.

See you in the future~
